Mahila Samakhya –Uttarakhand has expanded its horizon- by expanding the geographical area of it’s field of activities. Mahila Samakhya is a  programme Devoted to real empowerment of women, that is why its activities has variety which produce all round development in women . Most of the organization  or  department take single subject or issue , and work on it. They concentrate their activities on single issue. In such vision “ and limit their activities accordingly. But Mahila Samakhya regards women’s empowerment with wider perspective of all round development of women. By such work, awareness created in village Sangha is reflected in the personality of every woman. The is the distinctive feature of Mahila Samakhya programme. Based on important decision of New Education Policy(1986), Mahila Samakhya project was formulated as aprogramme for women education which is sensitive towards women and adopts the view according to their social conditions and needs. This programme evaluates the present state of women in society, acts for education of women targeted towards their specific needs. The fact very often crops up that without changing the mentality of women, a positive education-inducing atmosphere can not be created of them. And without education, they can not play their role according to their potential in the development and progress of country. In the prespective of these views, emphasis was given this year to education activities of women literacy and Mahila Shikshan Kendra.
